The Tom Brady Effect.
Our heroes are human. But, there is usually a good reason they become heroes. In the Television series, In the Arena, Tom Brady talks about his career in football, and tells the story of the farmer who experiences both good and bad luck over time. It is a Stoic precept, arguing that good and bad things happen, or are fated; but, the results are related to the reaction of the person to the events, and not the events themselves. Over time, we all experience the highs and lows of life, and the quality of our lives depends only on how we react to them. Many of us have experienced loss in our personal lives, whether divorce, or death, or a myriad of other sad events. But, putting one foot in front of another, every day that comes, is the secret to a happy life. Tom understands this, and he keeps doing his best as long as he is able. More than that no one can do. Last night, he showed the benefits of doing one's best, regardless of our fate. His last minute TD drive was a thing of beauty, and could be the igniter of another successful season. Or, it might not. I suspect that Tom will motor on, regardless, and his resilience is just one reason why he is a hero. What's your excuse
