Stephen Hawking Admitted That We Don't Know If There Is A God.
Since Hawking's death in 2018, it has become fashionable to read his quotes about the universe in search of knowledge about its origins. Did God create the Universe? Hawking expressed his personal belief that the simple explanation was no; but he admitted there is no way for us to know for sure. Of course, his opinion about the origin of the universe is cloaked in esoteric discussions of the Big Bang and Black Holes, and the fact that science has debunked every human attempt to ascribe a Godlike cause to many mysteries. But, he also warned of the risks of scientific advancement to the human race, counseling against attempts to contact alien civilizations (risky at best), and, more currently impactful, the risks of artificial intelligence, and increasingly capable computers. Hawking warned: “The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race.” I don't believe that most of us will be around if and when this happens; but it is a cautionary tale. We humans have a tendency to ascribe magical qualities to any science we don't understand. It is a coping mechanism. But, when we rely on "magic", we tend to deny the best part of being human. We withdraw from being actors in the life drama, and become passive. A passive life isn't worth living; especially given that we have such a short life span
